Queen’s Speech: Charles steps in to address MPs – as proud Camilla can’t help but smile | United Kingdom | News UK News

The Queen’s attendance is decided on a case-by-case basis, according to reports.

In October last year, the Queen sprained her back, preventing her from attending the Remembrance Sunday service at the Cenotaph.

In February, she tested positive for coronavirus, following which the palace said she experienced mild symptoms of a cold.

But within two weeks of her diagnosis, she was again attending virtual engagements.

The Queen was able to attend Prince Philip’s Thanksgiving service at the end of March, but did not attend the Easter Sunday church service at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle.

The withdrawal from the opening of Parliament marks Her Majesty’s most recent absence.
