Man arrested after 21-year-old seriously injured in Byker ‘stabbing’ UK News

A man has been arrested after a 21-year-old man was seriously injured in the hand and arm in a suspected knife attack in Byker.

Emergency services were called to the junction of St Peter’s Road and Commercial Road around 10pm on Friday. Northumbria Police received a report that a 21-year-old man suffered injuries consistent with a bladed item following an incident involving another man.

The alleged victim was taken to hospital after sustaining serious hand and arm injuries. He remains in the hospital for the time being when his condition does not appear to be life threatening.

A 22-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident and is currently in police custody. Detectives investigating the assault have appealed for witnesses to come forward.

Officers launched an investigation and conducted a number of inquiries, including speaking to witnesses and reviewing CCTV in the area.

They are now asking for any other witnesses to come forward and want to hear from anyone who was passing through the area at the time to check their dash cam, CCTV or doorbell.
