BBC Three Conversation with Friends: Cast and when Sally Rooney’s new show is on TV UK News

From the writer and producers of the hit Normal People, starring Daisy Edgar-Jones and Paul Mescal, fans can’t wait to get their hands on the new 12-part series.

Viewers have high expectations for the new TV adaptation after the hit Normal People which has seen over 62 million streams since its release during lockdown in 2020.

Based on Rooney’s 2017 debut novel, the TV adaptation will follow the lives of two Dublin students, Frances and Bobbi, and their odd friendship with a married couple.

How to watch BBC Three’s Chat with Friends

Conversation with Friends is one of the first and biggest dramas to launch on BBC Three since its recent return as a linear channel.

It will premiere on BBC Three in the UK, Hulu in the US and RTE in Ireland.

You can watch it on BBC Three on Sunday May 15 at 10 p.m. and catch up on BBC iPlayer.

Alison Oliver plays Frances in her first big screen role alongside Sasha Lane who plays her best friend and former partner Bobbi.

You might recognize Lane from his portrayal of Hunter C-20 in the Marvel Loki series.

Joe Alwyn, known for his work in period dramas The Favorite and Mary Queen of Scots, plays famed actor Nick and London writer husband Melissa (Jemima Kirke).

Fans of the popular Netflix show Sex Education will recognize Kirke for her role as Hope Haddon.

Other cast members include Derry Girls actors Justine Mitchell and Tommy Tiernan who play Paula and Dennis respectively.

Another familiar face on the show is Alex Murphy who will be paying Frances’ college friend Phillip.

Fans of The Young Offenders will know and love him as Conor MacSweeney.

What is Chat with Friends about?

The story follows two Dublin students, Frances and Bobbi, as they strike up an unexpected friendship with married couple Melissa and Nick.

21-year-old student Frances, played by Alison Oliver, and her ex-girlfriend and now best friend Bobbi, played by Sasha Lane, broke up three years ago but remain close friends.

The couple continue to go out and even perform spoken word poetry together in Dublin.

At one of their shows, they meet writer Melissa, played by Sex Education star Jemima Kirke, and they end up spending time with her and her actor husband Nick (Joe Alwyn).

From there, things get a little… complicated.

As Melissa and Bobbi openly flirt, Nick and Frances begin a secret affair that tests the bonds between friendships and relationships within the group.

Conversations With Friends airs at 10 p.m. on BBC Three and will be available on BBC iPlayer.
