Vera fans will have to wait a bit before they can catch new episodes, it has been confirmed.
ITV’s hit crime series follows the exploits of DCI obsessive Vera Stanhope, and it enjoys a loyal following. The show will return to ITV 1 and also the ITV Hub at some point after being recently removed from the schedule – although no one knows when.
Fans of the long-running show, which came out in 2011, were furious after it was treated to a few new episodes before Vera was quickly replaced on ITV schedules. Star Brenda Blethyn, who plays the eponymous Vera, appeared on today’s This Morning show to give fans an update.

Of the scheduling issue, presenter Holly Willoughby said, “We have two more episodes of Vera’s current series.” The host then continued, “We have episodes one, two, three, and four.”
Brenda Blethyn replied, “Yeah, they’re out now. There will be another one with five and six at some point.”
Birmingham Live reports that fans were crushed after it emerged the show would be replaced by Trigger Point in January. Debbie Blackman said on Twitter last night after the episode ended: “As much as I can’t wait to #Trigger point I would prefer more #Vera Actually @ITV.”
Many other fans took to social media to share their thoughts. On Twitter, Helen asked: “Dare I ask is this the last night of the show? @VeraSeries #I hope not #Vera “.
An ITV star Vera has shared all the details about the deleted scenes which will never air until the series finale. Ibinabo Jack later explained why some scenes were removed by the show’s creators.
Speaking to the Daily Express, she shared: “There’s so many things that happen that don’t make the finale because we couldn’t stay together or some shots that just looked funny. Kenny had to do pretending to walk down a staircase The stairs didn’t exist so we had to pretend he was walking down the stairs and on set it looked ridiculous, but brilliant when we watched the episode backward.
