The unique 15 kilogram gold coin was created to mark 70 years of Her Majesty’s reign.
This is a private commission for a British collector who features a bespoke commemorative design that has been personally endorsed by the Queen.
The 15 kilogram piece was made by a team of master craftsmen that took around 400 hours of craftsmanship.

Royal Mint marks Queen’s Platinum Jubilee with largest coin ever
The handcrafted piece has a diameter of 220 mm and is made of fine gold.
Designed by renowned coin artist John Bergdahl, the royal design is a fitting tribute to the longest reigning monarch in British history.
The reverse features a crowned EIIR cipher surrounded by roses, daffodils, thistles and shamrocks to represent the United Kingdom.
The masterpiece also includes a symbolic privy mark of the Crown of St. Edward that Her Majesty wore at her coronation in 1953.
It is placed above the number ’70’, in recognition of Her Majesty’s momentous celebration.

On the other hand, there is a special commemorative design which shows the Queen on horseback.
This print is inspired by the 1953 Coronation Crown coin created by Gilbert Ledward RA and the 2002 Golden Jubilee Crown coin by Ian Rank-Broadley FRBS.
The equestrian design has been created especially for the Platinum Jubilee Commemorative Collection and is available for £7 via The Royal Mint.
The memorial designs were brought to life by specialist artisans at the Royal Mint site in Llantrisant, South Wales.
Taking nearly 400 hours of intricate work, the stunning large coin is cut from a solid gold bar by a high-speed precision milling machine rather than being struck between two dies like a standard coin.
This is completed before the burnishing, polishing and glazing processes are done by hand to highlight the key elements of the designs.

“It’s a true testament to the expertise and skill of our in-house design and production teams, and their ability to collaborate with top artists. The combination of traditional craftsmanship and modern technology has produced a truly one-of-a-kind product. work of art.”
The Royal Mint tells the story of the Queen’s reign since she ascended the throne in 1952.
He created five definitive portraits of Her Majesty and marked her royal milestones, including previous jubilee occasions on commemorative crown coins.
To mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, the Royal Mint has launched one of the largest commemorative collections ever.
The Regal range includes a traditional £5 crown and the first royalty-themed 50p.

This best-selling collection has already been popular with new and existing collectors in the UK and overseas.
In fact, most precious metal 50p and £5 coins sold on the Royal Mint website on launch day.
In special recognition of the national celebration, 1.3 million 50p coins were released in tribute to the royal occasion.
The commemorative 50p is also given to 7,000 children who complete the RFS Junior Forester Award in partnership with The Queen’s Green Canopy.
