Harrogate Town’s Rory McArdle looks to improve on ‘ups and downs’ debut season after contract extension Yorkshire News

The Sulphurites were third in the table when McArdle was injured, but were never able to regain that momentum and finished 19th.

“Last season was a bit of an up and down from a personal standpoint, so now we have to take all the positives from last season as well as the areas where we fell short and work to rectify that to keep the club on the move. striker.” said the 35-year-old.

“Losing much of the season was frustrating, we had made a good start. At that point, you’re desperate to get back into shape as quickly as possible and start influencing the team on and off the field.

“Everyone made me feel welcome when I arrived last summer from the first day of pre-season and that’s where we are now focused to be ready to start working again.”

McArdle is a veteran of more than 400 soccer league appearances over 18 years.

“Anyone in and around the club or who knows Rory knows what a great character he is on and off the pitch,” assistant coach Paul Thirlwell said.

“He’s had some tough times with his injuries last season, but every time he’s been on the pitch he’s had real leadership qualities and brings a lot to the table.

“He is a guy anyone would want in club football, he helps youngsters progress and develop their game, while also wanting to play as many games as possible and make a big impact on the pitch.”
