Moore told the club: “Plans will be announced very soon, everything is in place… The players will report here by June 20 which will give us a good six weeks to train.

They’ll have six weeks to get their bodies in the shape we need for the start of the new campaign… By the time they come back and report back, the surfaces will be ready, and we’ll be ready to go.

“The main thing for pre-season is that the players come back, have a good six weeks, come through unscathed, get fit physically and mentally, and then we prepare for the new campaign.”

Although Moore did not give full details of the club’s pre-season plans – or where they will take place – he explained that they are looking to have at least one pre-season game at Hillsborough, where fans can hopefully see some of the new recruits as soon as they arrive.

Work has started on the grounds of Sheffield Wednesday’s Hillsborough Stadium.
