Louise Turner, 35, and her partner Angela Dexter, 56, have lived at Allen House in Sandwell since 2019. But the couple want to move to new council property as they claim the block is ‘awful’ with people spitting , urinate and even defecate inside.
Ms Turner told Birmingham Live: “The lift smells bad. It’s dirty. Someone urinates or spits in it.
“There were times when human feces was on the floor downstairs.
“It’s horrible, honestly, it’s like living in a zoo.”
Ms Turner said the lift in the seven-storey block tended to get stuck, but her partner Ms Dexter relied on it as she was disabled.
The 35-year-old said: “There’s only one lift, but every day someone gets stuck in it.
“I won’t use it anymore because I was stuck in it before.”
Ms Turner said there were also parking issues and they were awaiting a response from Sandwell Council on a disabled bay.
She said: “You can’t park your cars just anywhere. You already have to park twice.

She said: “I can’t even open my doors and windows because of the smoke.
“It’s the last thing I want to smell when I try to eat my tea.
“There are drug deals going on in the parking lot every night.
“I alerted the council and the police, but I can’t do anything.”
Councilor Charn Singh Padda, Sandwell Council Cabinet Member for Housing, said: ‘Sandwell Council officers are working with tenants on the issues they have raised. A request for an accessible parking space is under consideration .
“The lift is cleaned and maintained regularly. Complaints about neighbors are under ongoing investigation where further action will be taken if necessary to resolve the issue.
“The town hall has granted priority status to the relocation request. The speed with which tenants can be relocated, however, depends on the availability of suitable accommodation.”
