Lottery players have been urged to check their numbers after a UK ticket holder scooped the £55million EuroMillions jackpot

“Players are urged to check their tickets and call us if they think they are tonight’s lucky winner.”

South Yorkshire’s biggest lottery winners are Sheffield couple Ray and Barbara Wragg, who won £7.6million in 2000 and have given away over £5million of it to friends, family and to charities before Barbara sadly passed away in 2018, aged 77.

Mark, a 47-year-old concierge at Doncaster Sheffield Airport, and training coordinator wife Sara, 42, celebrated by splashing in a new hot tub.

It is not known if the winner came forward before the 30-day deadline to claim the past prize.

In the last EuroMillions draw on Friday night, no one matched all five EuroMillions numbers and one Lucky Star number.

But two ticket holders matched all five numbers to win nearly £30,000.

National lottery operator Camelot said that thanks to its players, more than £1.2billion has been distributed across the UK so far to help tackle the impact of coronavirus.
