South Shields Little Mix singer Perrie Edwards has announced her engagement to footballer Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
The singer, who has son Axel with the Liverpool player, posted photos of the proposal on her Instagram account. She said, “Last night the love of my life got down on her knees and I said… YES! “.
The pair have been dating since 2016 after Perrie split from former boyfriend and fellow pop star Zayn Malik, who was a member of One Direction at the time. She gave birth to their son Axel last August.

Other stars, including former teammate Jade Thirlwall, congratulated Perrie on her engagement. Felow North Easterner Vicky Pattison wrote: “Omgggggggggg!!!!! Congratulations gorgeous girl.
The happy news of the future Mrs Oxlade-Chamberlain comes as speculation begins over when the ladies of Little Mix will release solo material, following their farewell tour which ended last month. Perrie recently told The Sun: “We all figured we’ll let each other know when we’re going to come out so we don’t clash on the charts. We’re rooting for each other, not competing against each other.
