Dilapidated Westcountry beach hut sells for £30,000 – despite peeling paint and frayed roof Bath City News

A south west beach hut sold for a whopping £30,000. The dilapidated-looking shed went up for sale last week and was picked up two days later, although it was clearly in need of repairs.

The blue and yellow cabana, named “Lazy Daze”, is one of Westward Ho!’s most coveted beach cabanas, and has been described as “sold as is”. Despite the peeling paint and frayed roof, a flurry of potential buyers arrived.

Simon Bright, manager of Bright’s estate agent, says inquiries are still pouring in – even though the hut is no longer available. He told Devon Live: “If we had had four or five, we could have sold them all.”

Measuring just 2.44m x 1.76m, Lazy Daze comes with electricity and the right to access a water tap. It is surrounded by generous land and offers stunning sea views.

Simon added that it was the first beach hut they had this year and they were rarely released. Beach huts have grown in popularity in recent years, making them even harder to find – in some parts of the UK the colorful huts can sell for up to six figures.

Although such numbers have yet to be achieved at Westward Ho!, Simon said they are increasingly sought after. “Every time we get one, their price goes up,” he commented.
