Village club remains in ‘precarious position’ after committee resigns Bath City News

A Somerset village club could be forced to close – unless a new committee is found. An emergency meeting has been called at the Pill Memorial Club after the previous committee resigned at the annual general meeting earlier this month.

Trustees of the club, which opened in 1947, say he left it in a ‘very precarious position’ and the club could be forced to close. It is unclear why the previous committee resigned.

The emergency meeting is being held at the club on June 29 and members are encouraged to attend in an effort to secure its future. In a message from the club’s directors, he said: “After the AGM on June 16, the club has not appointed a new committee following the resignation of the previous committee.

“This has put the club in a very precarious position with the possibility of it being forced to close. It has therefore been decided to call an emergency general meeting on June 29 at 8pm to hopefully resolve this issue. and others and move the club forward in a positive and constructive way.

“We, as administrators, therefore ask that as many members as possible attend the meeting. This is your club and I can’t stress how important the Memorial Club is to the community.

“It would be such a shame to lose him.” The club is home to a number of community groups and regularly hosts events including live music. It is also used as a venue for weddings and other events.
