Coventry hit-and-run: Hunt for Toyota Yaris driver in West Midlands | United Kingdom | New UK News

The eight-year-old girl was rushed to hospital, where she remains in serious condition, following the collision in Henley Green, Coventry. Police today released footage of a man and woman they would like to speak to about the crash.

Detectives have appealed to the public to help find the couple they say they “need to talk to”.

They also urged the couple to “do the right thing”, Coventry Live reports.

The accident, which police say involved a gray Toyota Yaris, happened on June 17, but police only confirmed today that it was a hit and run.

A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: “We have released this footage of two people we need to speak to following a hit and run which has left a child in critical condition. It happened on Monkswood Crescent, Coventry, on June 17 just after 6 p.m.

“The eight-year-old girl was hit by a gray Toyota Yaris. She remains hospitalized in critical condition after sustaining a head injury.

“A man and a woman can be seen in the footage we have recovered as part of our investigation. We need to speak to them urgently.”

The spokesperson continued: “If you recognize them, have seen anything, or have dash cam footage of the area at this time, please contact us. If it was you, please do what it is necessary and contact us.

“A young girl is seriously injured and we need to understand what happened. You can contact us via live chat on our website or call 101. Please quote log 3293 from June 17.”

Henley Green, which lies to the east of Coventry, is a residential area, home to shops and housing estates.
