Union votes 115,000 Royal Mail workers for ‘biggest strike’ of summer Business

He demanded that the company negotiate for a “direct and unconditional pay increase” for employees.

A CWU spokesman said: ‘UK postal workers are being forced to take a massive pay cut from the same people they generated incredible profits for.

“Our members go to food banks while bosses reward themselves with upfront bonuses. This is an unfair and unsustainable way to treat people.

“We have no doubt that workers will challenge this despicable treatment, fight back and vote to start the biggest strike this summer.”

The CWU is also embroiled in pay disputes at BT and the Post Office, with union bosses threatening a “summer of discontent” over the cost of living crisis.

The rail and metro networks were thrown into chaos last week when the rail, maritime and transport union staged the biggest strike in more than three decades.

Britons face further disruption ahead, with more rail strikes planned alongside airport and bus worker walkouts.

Inflation is expected to top 11% later this year when the energy price cap rises again.

Royal Mail has been contacted for comment.
