Services between Littlehampton and Worthing, and Barnham and Worthing have been stopped with emergency services on their way to the scene.
Southern said it is trying to remove the person from the tracks but is still “working to assess the full situation”.

“We don’t yet have an exact estimate for the delays,” said a spokesman for Southern.
“If you need to consider using another route for your journey, Southern will let you know.”
Southern has been contacted for further comment.
