Brighton: A259 and Madeira Drive to be closed for Brighton 10k Brighton News

Brighton 10k has a seaside route, meaning some busy routes will be closed.

Around 2,000 runners will begin the race at 9.30am near the Peace Statue in Hove, and run along the seafront.

The route then returns down the A259 to the Palace Pier, where it joins Madeira Drive.

Runners will continue up past Sea Lanes before returning to complete the 10k where they started.

Road closures

  • Madeira Drive will be closed from the Aquarium to Black Rock from 8am to 11am
  • A259 Westbound from Hove Lawns to the Palace Pier from 8.30am to 11.30am

Brighton 10k recommends runners use either Regency Square car park, which is the closest, but also more expensive at £4.50 an hour.

Cheaper alternatives are Norton Road and King Alfred car parks, both of which cost £2 an hour and are around one mile from the start and finish point.

There will be portaloos at the start at finish point. Runners are also reminded that there are public toilets available on Hove Promenade.

On the course, runners are directed to Madeira Drive’s public toilets which are at the 4.5km and 6.5km points.
