Two deaths linked to Covid-19 have been recorded and 14 new cases of coronavirus reported in parts of Somerset, according to the latest set of daily figures.
Data released today – Monday, May 17 – shows two people died within 28 days of a positive test result in Sedgemoor and Mendip.
Bath and North East Somerset, North Somerset, Sedgemoor and Somerset West and Taunton all had three new cases, while two were reported in South Somerset. There was no new infection with Mendip.

The government said five more people died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19 on Monday, bringing the UK total to 127,684.
Separate figures released by UK statistical agencies show that there have been 152,000 recorded deaths in the UK where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate.
The government also said as of 9 a.m. on Monday there had been 1,979 more laboratory-confirmed cases in the UK.
This brings the total to 4,452,756.

Government data up to May 16 shows that of the 56,992,075 jabs administered in the UK so far, 36,704,672 were first doses – an increase of 131,318 the day before.
Some 20,287,403 were second doses, an increase of 183,745.
