Hundreds of people cool off during heatwave at Weston-super-Mare water park Bath City News

Hundreds of families in need of cooling off crowded into Weston-super-Mare Water Park – as the wading pool was activated for the first time this year.

The water was supposed to be on at 10 a.m. yesterday, but a technical problem delayed it until 11:30 a.m.

Weston City Council spokesperson Becky Walsh said: “The problem was with a lump of chlorine that got stuck in the system.

“We had to call an engineer to fix it and that delayed the filling by about an hour and a half. About 200 people used the water park yesterday.

“Due to delays in filling the park, use of the park was free yesterday. But it works as usual today (Friday).

The water park has had a facelift in recent weeks. It was repainted with an Under the Sea themed mural by local artist Martin Darcy. It also underwent a deep cleaning and earthworks were carried out.
