Ashton stabbed: man left in serious condition after knife attack near Manchester | United Kingdom | New UK News

The man, who is in serious condition, was stabbed outside a takeaway store in Ashton-under-Lyne. Police rushed to the scene after receiving reports of a man injured by a stabbing weapon at around 10:25 p.m. Wednesday.

Greater Manchester Police said a 16-year-old man was arrested and remains in custody in connection with the attack.

A police cordon was placed on the premises of Market Street.

Footage from the scene shows two police cars and policemen near the cordoned off area.

They also show a large puddle of blood on the hen house floor, although it is still unclear where exactly the victim was attacked.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police has confirmed details of the incident.

They said: “At approximately 10:25 pm on Tuesday August 18, police were called to report a man with stabbing injuries on Market Street, Ashton-under-Lyne.

“Officers attended and an injured man was taken to hospital for treatment, where his condition remains serious.

“A 16-year-old man was arrested in connection with this incident and remains in custody for questioning.

“Anyone with information about this incident should contact the police on 101 or via gmp.police.uk, citing incident 3433-180821, or the independent charity – Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111. “
