Take it or leave it: occasion photos from May 20 Car News

We found a real gem on the second-hand market. Our example is a one-owner car first registered in 2016 that has 68,000 miles on the odometer. This mileage is above average for its age, but the car has the added benefit of being completely unchanged.

That’s not all: it also has a full service history, runs on unleaded V-Power only and is equipped with all the extra options available, including a rear parking camera with rear sensors, lights and automatic wipers, air conditioning and sat-nav. It seems an excellent deal for the money

Verdict: Take it

Volkswagen Golf Plus, £4,699: Designed as an MPV-style saloon, this Volkswagen offers slightly better functionality than a standard Volkswagen Golf but not to the level of the Volkswagen Touran. Sure, it’s not designed for straight-line speed, but even so the 1.6-litre diesel in this car is still a tad too slow: 0-62mph will take you around 13.5 seconds. Its condition is good apart from a scratch on the front bumper.

Verdict: Leave him
