UK weather: Met Office update on ‘hottest weekend of the year’ forecast of 27C Brighton News

UK Meteorological Service lead meteorologist Jim Dale said: ‘As we approach this weekend we could see something a bit warmer – maybe even very hot.’

“So basically sunny, dry overall universally and also very hot, more and more over the weekend

“And I’m not just talking about London, it’s going to be 27C – it could also be Edinburgh.”

He added: “So this could be the universally hottest weekend of the year yet. This is what it looks like, with the caveat that we are still some distance away.

“I think going into this weekend it could well pick up speed.”

Met Office forecast for Queen’s Jubilee weekend

The prediction comes amid reports that the Queen’s Bank Holiday weekend could be the hottest of the year.

The Met Office predicts the weekend will be ‘dry’ and ‘sunny’, but held back from predicting highs of 27C.

From June 1, the National Weather Service said: “Eastern areas are likely to be cloudier with a higher chance of showers and breezes early in this period, with drier weather and the best sunshine probably west.

“The east is also expected to experience cooler than average temperatures during this period. The rest of next week is likely to be sunny and dry, but occasional rain and showers, mainly in the east.

“Feeling warm in any sun. Around the bank holiday weekend, this pattern should continue, with dry weather and sunny spells.”
