German Doner Kebab opens in Brighton – our take Brighton News

THE doner kebab has become a staple of the big British night out – stumbling into a kebab shop in the early hours of the morning and digging into greasy meat covered in sauce to try and avoid a hangover.

However, Brighton’s latest kebab restaurant hopes to reshape that stereotype and get people to choose to dig into a kebab as something to grab on the way to work, sit down for lunch…or even eat for lunch. breakfast.

German Doner Kebab, which opened on North Street today, aims to provide a more upscale kebab experience than the typical kebab shop.

The new outlet – the 104th in the chain to open – has everything you would expect from a modern fast food restaurant with self-service screens for customers in a hurry, a selection of tables and booths and artwork of art, a nod to the creation of the brand in Berlin in 1989.

The smiling staff were very quick to recommend their kebab sandwich – dubbed “The Original” which I picked up with their “Flaming Fries” and a set of sauces – made fresh each morning. I also ordered Chilli Cheese Bites and Doner Spring Rolls – two of their sides.

While waiting for my food I wondered what makes the brand German, as opposed to Scottish – where the UK operation is based. I was kindly told by a member of staff that all of the restaurant’s meat is produced in Germany and then shipped to their outlets around the world.

My order soon arrived and I was wondering how to approach the huge kebab in front of me. It was filled with juicy chicken and beef, as well as crisp lettuce, tomatoes and locally sourced red cabbage.

It was incredibly tasty and it was obvious that everything about the kebab was fresh and prepared that day – something I am told is incredibly important to the brand.

It was hard not to spoil the meal in front of me – luckily the restaurant had clearly prepared for it, providing diners with a napkin to wipe their hands after digging.

But the German Doner Kebab is not limited to “OG”. The restaurant also offers a wider range of ways to enjoy döner meat, with paninis, quesadillas and burgers – each available for less than £5.

The German Doner Kebab tries to cater for vegetarians in Brighton with a few options to choose from, but unfortunately there are no vegan options at the moment.

The restaurant is open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily and will soon be available on the Deliveroo, Just Eat and Uber Eats delivery apps.

German Doner Kebab is looking to grow its team in Brighton, with positions available on its website.
