People freed from overturned car in Eastbourne Brighton News

PEOPLE trapped in an overturned car following an accident were freed by firefighters.

The incident happened in Wordsworth Drive, Eastbourne shortly before 2.20pm yesterday.

Hydraulic equipment and an electric saw were used to extricate people from the overturned car.

Two people were treated at the scene for injuries but did not need to go to hospital.

A Sussex Police spokeswoman said: ‘Police were called at around 2.20pm on Monday June 27 to reports of a vehicle overturning on Wordsworth Drive, Eastbourne.

“Two people were treated at the scene.

A spokeswoman for the East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service (ESFRS) said: ‘We were called at 2.24pm yesterday to attend an RTC on Wordsworth Drive, Eastbourne.

“Teams from Eastbourne attended and assisted in the extraction of two people from a vehicle.

“The crews used an electric saw and hydraulic equipment to free the passengers.

“They were handed over to the good care of the SECAMB. We left the premises at 3:56 p.m.
