Water pours from bus after driver navigates deep floodwater in Bexhill Brighton News

A video shows water crashing against the front window of the 99 service from Hastings to Eastbourne as it enters the flooded area in Westcourt Drive on Saturday (November 4).

The bus then stops at the side of the road, the driver opens its doors and water can be seen pouring onto the street from inside the vehicle.

Responding to the incident, a spokesman for Stagecoach said: “We are aware of this incident and are taking it extremely seriously.

“The safety of our passengers and colleagues is our highest priority. We have very clear protocols in place regarding floodwater situations and we are actively investigating the incident at Bexhill on Saturday.”

Other vehicles attempted to navigate the water throughout the day, with some successful and others getting stuck.

Fire crews were called at 2.55pm on Saturday (November 4) to reports of two vehicles stuck under the bridge. Crews found no one inside on arrival.
