Trade unionists in the English National Opera chorus are set to vote on industrial action on January 4 over proposed salary cuts.
Singers who are members of the Equity union said the ENO wants to cut contracts to six months a year and axe salaries by 40% to save costs after it was pulled from the Arts Council England grant portfolio. Chorus members also claim they will not have a role when ENO moves its base from London to Manchester.
An ENO spokesman said: “The issues raised could be best resolved around the negotiation table.”
