Butlin’s to open new activity centre in Bognor Brighton News

The £15 million, 50,000sqft Butlin’s Playexperience will open at the Bognor resort in September

Designed for both families and guests staying on adult-only Big Weekender breaks, Playexperience will feature a variety of “cutting-edge” experiences, all under one roof.

The experiences will include themed escape rooms, high-tech mini golf and a space dedicated to the latest in virtual reality gaming.

Set over two floors and open all day and throughout the evening, the nine immersive experiences and the activity centre’s cafe and bar will create a total of 37 jobs.

These roles will be advertised later in the year ahead of the grand opening.

As well as the opening of Playexperience, the resort’s newest venue, Studio 36, will be made permanent.

Originally installed during Covid as a solution to social distancing, Studio 36 is now home to all headline acts.

The Argus: The works are due to be finished by early summer which will also mean the venue can be used on Big Weekenders so acts can perform to more than 3,000 guests.

Butlin’s said there will also be investment and upgrades to other entertainment venues at the resort and “more exciting things” to come later in the year.

Nikki Ratcliffe, Butlin’s Bognor Regis Resort director, said: “2024 is going to be an incredible year at Butlin’s Bognor Regis. The opening of Playexperience is going to significantly enhance our guests’ experience on both family breaks and our adult-only Big Weekenders.

“Nowhere else does fun and entertainment like Butlin’s, so Playexperience opening its doors in Bognor will take already jam-packed holidays to a new level.

“We’re delighted that as well as offering our guests more fun and entertainment we’ll also be creating more jobs on our resort. With a variety of different roles on offer, vacancies will be available in the summer ahead of the activity centre opening. This year really is going to be our biggest and best year yet.”
