Honest Burgers launch two new specials for January Brighton News

In partnership with Bristol-based pork brand The Jolly Hog, the new Honest Burgers special, I ‘heart’ Bacon features Honest beef, filled with creamy chipotle mayo and layered with Tubby Tom’s bacon-dusted shoestring fries.

The star of the special is Jolly Hog’s award-winning streaky bacon which has been bathed in black treacle and smoked twice.

Honest, which has a site in Duke Street, Brighton, said the burger is perfect for bacon lovers who desire a sweet yet salty meat-based treat.

As Veganuary kicks off, Honest Burgers also has a plant-based delicacy for diners who love bacon – without the bacon.

The Bacon Plant 2.0 Special marks the new and improved Bacon Plant burger which was first introduced to the Honest Burgers menu in January 2019.

Over 600 lovers of the special petitioned for it to return and it is now back and “tastier than ever”. Made up of shoestring fries sprinkled with vegan bacon dust, Applewood vegan cheese and a Beyond Meat patty. The Bacon Plant 2.0 shines with La Vie’s plant-based bacon to top it off – and it has also been smoked to perfection.

The I ‘heart’ Bacon and Bacon Plant 2.0 specials are available at all 40 Honest Burgers restaurants, until February 5. The specials come served with homemade rosemary salted chips, seasonal coleslaw or dressed green salad included in the price.

The I ‘heart’ Bacon burger is £14.80 (including a side) when dining in or collecting and the Bacon Plant 2.0 burger is £15.50 (including side). Those who want to experience the burger from the comfort of their home, the Uber Eats price for the I ‘heart’ Bacon burger is £15.90 and the Bacon Plant 2.0 burger is £16.50.

Adam Layton, Honest Burgers head of food, said: “The Jolly Hog’s smoked black treacle streaky bacon might just be my favourite ever bacon. It’s salty, sweet, and smoky. It’s everything you want bacon to be, and a little bit more. It’s all British outdoor-bred pork too, which is what makes it even tastier.

“As for the Bacon Plant 2.0 burger, the original earned a cult following since it first launched as a Veganuary special in 2019. When we tried to take it off the menu a loyal fan created a Change.org petition to bring it back and managed to get 645 signatures in just a couple of days.

“Now it’s back once again with a few upgrades including La Vie’s awesome plant-based streaky bacon.”

Olly Kohn, co-founder of The Jolly Hog, said: “In the early days of starting The Jolly Hog, we took inspiration from lots of different people and businesses, and Honest Burgers was one of them. They are a company with real values at their heart, as well as great-tasting food. We are proud to be collaborating with Honest on the I ♡ Bacon special – not only are burgers and bacon the perfect combo, but it’s a great partnership deliciously showcasing high-welfare meat. I’ll definitely be snaffling a few throughout January.”
