New Love Island contestant Luca Bish says he is looking for a “genuine” relationship when he enters the villa.
The ITV2 reality show returns to ITV2 on Monday June 6 at 9 p.m., helping a new generation of contestants looking for love.
And now Luca, a fishmonger from Brighton, is set to step into the Mallorcan villa as part of the show’s main cast.
The 23-year-old says he applied for the show after getting out of a long-term relationship.
He said: “When you look back on Love Island you can see how many couples it really is. I don’t know how many children Love Island has had but there are a few that aren’t there?
“I got out of a four year relationship about a year ago. I liked being in a relationship, there were just things I didn’t like and we broke up.
Luca said he’s not a fan of dating apps or online dating and prefers to meet girls in person.
He said: “I prefer meeting girls on the go. I think when you go looking for it, it’s not that easy, it’s like you want it too much.
“If I think you’re the only one or I like you, I’ll take you on a date, but other than that, if we talk and I don’t like where it’s going – then I don’t won’t throw a date.”
Luca will join dozens of other contestants for the eighth series of the ITV show.
Among the other candidates is dancer Tasha Ghouri, from Thirsk, North Yorkshire.
The 23-year-old, who has a cochlear implant, heads to the villa to find ‘the one’ as she feels her love life is a ‘mess’.
She also admitted that despite being a “girl’s girl”, she is willing to tread on toes “in the nicest way possible” in her quest to find a man.
Another contender for the 2022 lineup is Davide Sanclimenti, 27, from Rome, who said he would bring his “Italian charm” to the villa.
