of Sciences Po students denounce rape and harassment

For the past few days, Sciences Po has been in turmoil. Testimonies of rape and sexual assault are increasing. Under the hashtag #Sciencesporcs, students or former students tell their painful stories and the omerta that would reign in the establishment. In front of Sciences Po Paris, Wednesday February 10, the students denounced a sometimes deleterious climate in the integration evenings.

“It’s in behavior that is a little trivialized and everyday, in words, gestures … A definition of consent which is very vague for everyone”, confides a student. Feminist activist Anna Toumazoff appealed to victims of IEP (Institutes of Political Studies). Since Sunday, February 7, she has received hundreds of testimonies. “What is quite chilling is that there were dozens of them by IEP”, she explains, pointing “impunity for rapists who are never punished”. A preliminary investigation has been opened for a rape allegedly committed at Sciences Po Toulouse (Haute-Garonne). These cases arise in a particular context: Tuesday, February 9, the director of Sciences Po Paris, Frédéric Mion, resigned under pressure, because since 2019, he was aware of the charges of incest brought against Olivier Duhamel, one of his professors. , but never said anything.
