franceinfo: Can you remind us what the National Digital Council is?
Françoise Mercadal-Delasalles, co-president of the National Digital Council: It is an independent commission that has existed for 10 years, appointed by the Prime Minister, under the authority of the Secretary of State for Digital Cédric O, whose mission is to inform the government in the decisions it must take on the digital revolution.
What will the CNN roadmap be about, which will be studied next week?
We want to take an interest in digital technology as a social fact and to think about its impact on individuals. We don’t want to stay just from a technical perspective, as has been the case in recent years. Digital technology is political today, in the sense of the city.
As the philosopher and science historian Michel Serres said, this is the third anthropological revolution of humanity. That is to say a technical revolution which profoundly modifies our attention, our freedom, our autonomy, etc. This is the reason why we have deliberately chosen to bring together intellectuals such as sociologists, anthropologists, philosophers, etc. We want to ask ourselves and reflect on what is happening to us.
How are you approaching the upcoming election period?
We want to open the debate to avoid the fight. We want to add our contribution so as not to be in the clash of opinions, faced with such a complex subject, but rather in exchange, reflection and understanding.
For example, 5G is going to be fabulous in the medical field, but it can scare people who feel more and more watched. We have to take into account these different points of view. With digital technology, we have gone from a form of utopia to a form of fear and mistrust. It is this issue that we wish to shed light on.
