Trespassers cause long train delays at Brighton station Brighton News

TRAINS to Brighton faced long delays this morning due to intruders on the track.

The intruders were first spotted shortly after 6 a.m. between Three Bridges and Haywards Heath, delaying trains in the city for around 15 minutes.

However, about half an hour later, all lines between stations were blocked due to “another trespassing incident”.

A Southern Rail spokesperson: “If you are currently on a train that has been at a stand in a station or just outside, please stay on the service and wait for further information from the driver.

“Trains currently cannot run between Three Bridges and Haywards Heath this morning.

“If you are traveling this morning, you may need to take an alternate route to complete your trip.”

Tickets will be accepted with the Metrobus, Brighton and Hove and Southern & Thameslink buses.

The spokesperson added, “Please allow an additional 20-25 minutes for your trip.

“We recommend that you delay travel if possible if you are looking to travel between Three Bridges and Haywards Heath / Brighton this morning.

“Replacement rail buses have been confirmed and are expected to be in place from 8 am.

“These will provide a shuttle service between Three Bridges, Balcombe and Haywards Heath.”

At 7:40 a.m., the spokesperson confirmed that a person had been found safe.

Services are running again, but people are advised to “allow a lot of extra time” when traveling.
