Carlos Corberan can’t blame the Huddersfield Town effort, but Barnsley deserved his win Yorkshire News

Carlos Corberan had no complaints after his Huddersfield Town team lost 1-0 at home to Barnsley.

The visitors dominated the opportunities, imposing their style of play on the Terriers who defended well to keep them at arm’s length, aided by two clearances on goals from Naby Sarr and Michal Helik heading against the crossbar, but caused little threat at the other end, with only one shot on goal all night.

The effort could not fail, but Corberan’s team was not good enough to seriously upset a team heading to the play-offs.

“I think they deserved the three points more than us, although the team competed a lot,” Corberan admitted.

“We tried to put Josh Koroma in space in the back, but we didn’t do it enough times in the game.

“In the second half they were better than us doing exactly what they can do. We were unable to create opportunities.

“In some moments before they scored, the game was too open and you felt that if we had a counterattack, they would have another chance.

“They began to use set pieces very well and in one of the transition moments they scored their goal.

“We tried to change the dynamics of the game and attack more, but it was not enough to get something positive.”
