Oxfordshire firm reveals 371 hp Porsche 964911 Car News

The Theon Design HK002 is a fully restored and slightly upgraded version of the 964 generation Porsche 911, promising “OEM-level design, quality and manufacturing techniques with obsessive attention to detail.”

Founded by car designer Adam Hawley, Theon Design is an Oxfordshire-based company that specializes in what it calls “redesigned” versions of the 964. This latest creation is her third bespoke order, and the second to go. direct to a customer in Hong Kong, hence the name “HK002”.

The HK002 is based on an original generation 911 964 which was restored to bare metal before being upgraded as part of a full restoration process.

Obviously, the design has been tweaked to more closely resemble previous generations of the 911 and to pay homage to “the company’s rich heritage”. The design cues were taken, Theon says, from a range of Porsche models, past and present, including concept cars.

The body shell is actually a bespoke item, with unique molds created using a digital scanning process. The “ long hood ” is inspired by early 911s, while the wider arches are inspired by newer cars.

Most of the bodywork is hand-beaten steel, but the bumpers and spoiler are carbon fiber items supplied by “an F1 supplier”. Future commissions can be specified with a hull built entirely of carbon fiber, Theon said.

Power-adjustable aluminum exterior mirrors, reportedly based on the 2018 991911 Speedster limited-edition, are a modern design influence.

Theon offers a choice of engines ranging from 3.6 to 4.0 liters, and with the option of a turbocharger. The HK002’s 3.8-liter, air-cooled flat-six goes without forced suction and produces 371 horsepower and 300 lb-ft – much more than the stock specification 964 engine.

Upgrades include independent throttle bodies, mounted heads, and a lean, balanced lower end. Barrels and pistons are Mahle’s performance items, while Texas-based company Carrillo provided the custom rods and camshafts.

A six-speed manual gearbox of the latest generation of the 911 from 993 is fitted, while the ride height has been reduced thanks to a KW performance suspension package. Theon also promises a weight distribution close to 50:50, with the power steering and air conditioning systems mounted lower in the car.

Inside, the HK002 receives Recaro sports seats and is branded from a standard 911 with exposed carbon fiber and a custom stitched Nardi steering wheel. Despite the retro design, modern upgrades including a rear view camera, stereo unit and wireless charger are subtly integrated into the dashboard.

Theon’s commissions are available from £ 300,000, with each car different from the last and taking around 18 months to build.
