Three more people die from coronavirus in Somerset – latest breakdown Bath City News

Three other people have died after being diagnosed with coronavirus in Somerset.

Two deaths have been reported in North Somerset in the past 24 hours, and one in the Sedgemoor area.

This is the second day in a row that three deaths have been confirmed in the county.

These deaths bring the total recorded in Somerset since the start of the pandemic to 1,204.

There have also been 21 new confirmed cases of Covid in the county, eight of which have been recorded in the Mendip area.

There were five new positive tests in Bath and North East Somerset, three in South Somerset, two each in Sedgemoor and Somerset West and Taunton, with one additional infection in North Somerset.

The new cases in Somerset are part of a total of 2,678 registered across the UK in the past 24 hours, bringing the national total to 4,401,109.

The R rate for the Southwest has remained between 0.7 and 1.1, meaning that every ten people infected in the region could infect an additional seven to eleven people.

The potential rate of 1.1 in the South West is higher than expected for England as a whole.
