A “really nice” 14-year-old boy has been stabbed to death in east London – sparking tributes and a call for murder from police.
Emergency services were called to report a stabbing at Barking Road in East Ham, Newham, just before 4 p.m. Friday.
Despite the efforts of paramedics, Maatou prices was pronounced dead shortly after 4:30 p.m.
DCI Perry Benton, Metropolitan Police, said officers believed Fares had been attacked with a “large bladed object.”
He thanked the local people for coming forward and called on the public to help the police catch the kidnappers of the child.
“Fares’ family is, of course, absolutely devastated,” he said. “I assured them of my full commitment to bring those responsible for this senseless murder to justice.
“They will be supported by specialist officers at every stage of what will be a terrible ordeal for them in the weeks, months and years to come.
“We have already seen fantastic support and received a lot of information from the local population. I thank them for that and I ask anyone with information or any witnesses who have not yet spoken to the police to come forward and tell the police what they know.
“We are in the process of reconstructing the picture of what happened on Friday afternoon, and every fragment of that picture will be crucial.”
He added that three boys had been arrested and were still in custody.
They are a 14-year-old boy and a 15-year-old boy arrested for murder, and another 15-year-old boy in connection with the incident.
“This is a quick investigation and there will be other developments,” DCI Benton said.
A bunch of flowers and balloons had been placed near the murder scene outside the Zzetta Soul Fired Pizza restaurant in Barking Road.
