The FTSE 100 ends flat, Sensex rallies more than 700 points Business News

London’s FTSe 100 ended flat on Friday, up less than half a point to below 6939. The FTSE 250 was also nominally up 7 points at the close.

The blue chip index rose 0.32 points or 0.0046 percent to 6,938.56, and the domestically-focused FTSE 250 to 22,372.

Meanwhile, US stocks rose on Friday as tech stocks rallied in anticipation of strong earnings reports this week. The S&P 500 gained 1.09% to 4,180.17 and the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.67% to 34,043.49. The Nasdaq Composite added 1.44% to 14,016.81.

Asian stocks also got off to a positive start on Monday with Chinese equities close to three-week highs, a sign that the global economic recovery was well on track. Before noon, Shanghai Composite was down for the day and traded with a gain of 6 points to around 3480. Nikkei 225 was also in the green trade of 195 points. The Hang Seng, Kospi and Taiwan indices all trade green.

The benchmark Indian equities index, meanwhile, also traded higher on Monday, followed by positive global indices. Sensex collected over 700 points in the initial trade, Nifty above 14,500.
