Newborn baby left in Birmingham Park: Police call for help in locating mother of several-hour-old baby left alone and found by dog ​​walker | UK News

Detectives are urgently trying to locate the mother of a newborn baby found in a Birmingham park.

The little boy was discovered wrapped in a blanket in the park known locally as The Mound in the city’s Kings Norton neighborhood.

He was thought to be only a few hours old when he was found dressed and wrapped in a blanket by a dog walker last week, he was rushed to hospital to be checked.

CCTV footage released by West Midlands Police shows a woman walking along Shannon Road near The Mound just before 5:10 p.m. on April 22 – and they have now called on the woman to come forward because they believe she is she might have “vital information about what happened.”

The baby was found on St. George’s Eve and was named George by the hospital staff caring for him.

A West Midlands Police spokesperson said he was “in good health and doing well”.

But they added: “Unfortunately, we still haven’t been able to find his mother.

“We are very worried about her and want to check that she is okay, both physically and mentally.

“Giving birth is an important thing and we fear that she will need medical help.”

Baby George was wearing gray leggings, an orange and white striped t-shirt with a dinosaur design, and was wrapped in a gray and white blanket when he was found.
