The Swedish goalkeeper suffered a head injury after a challenge from Barnsley striker Carlton Morris went unpunished in preparation for the game’s only goal.

He missed Tuesday’s 1-0 loss to Brentford and is still undergoing a concussion protocol, making him in doubt for the game against Blackburn, which could decide Rotherham’s fate this season.

After five consecutive defeats, the Millers will be relegated to Ligue 1 if they lose and Derby beats Swansea.

Jamal Blackman, who played at Brentford, is set to replace again and boss Paul Warne won’t risk Johansson if there are any issues with his plug.

“He could be available for the weekend, he has to go through protocols but it’s out of my control, I’m not going to take a player’s health in danger,” Warne said.

“I thought Jamal was good at Brentford, I did everything we asked, made a few saves. If Viktor isn’t 100%, he won’t play.

It could be the end of the road for the Millers in their long fight against Saturday’s drop.

Many have gone against Warne’s sides this season, not at least two coronavirus outbreaks in the team that have sparked a series of postponements.

This has led to a painful backlog of matches, which will see the Millers play 14 games in six weeks.

The Millers have had a lot of goodwill from other clubs in the division, and Warne is enjoying it.

“It means a lot that people are rooting for us because people are not rooting for the wrong people,” he said.

“We had little injustice, but they inspire the guys to keep going and that’s what keeps them going. I can’t knock the effort of the guys and I was very proud of them.

“We have had games recently where we have been excellent and should have come away with points.

I feel for my group and myself that we do not only have rewards, but we will go all the way.
