Northumberland Council Conservative candidate misspelled ‘Druridge Bay’ on campaign brochure UK News

A Conservative candidate has been left behind for misspelling the name of the constituency in which she is running on an election flyer.

Janet Whiteley hopes to win Northumberland County Council’s Druridge Bay division on May 6.

In brochures sent to homes in the riding, the Conservative Party candidate called herself on the front page “A New Champion for the Duridge Bay Division.”

In a second misspelling, the leaflet refers to the neighborhood as “Drurage Bay”.

The embarrassing mistakes, pointed out by residents who received the leaflet, were made despite Ms Whiteley living in Northumberland.

A Tory spokesperson said: “On rare occasions we typo a flyer, the wording was correct in all other parts of the flyer.

“Needless to say, the good folks at Druridge Bay would be better off with a Tory adviser after the 6th e May.

“In this election, we saw some good typos from our opponents.

“The Labor candidate for Berwick North spoke of ‘Flesidents’ and ‘Flegeneration’, while the Green Party candidate for Berwick hoped to become an ‘adviser’.

“In Hexham, the Labor candidate for Hexham Central started speaking to her residents in what appeared to be Latin.

“Needless to say, the locals we talk to always feel that the Labor Party does not speak their language in any way.”
