The UK has recorded five more COVID deaths and 2,047 more cases in the latest daily figures.
It compares with seven deaths and 1,907 cases this time last week, while the latest seven-day moving average for deaths and cases is 11.3 and 2,080.
As of Friday, 119,240 first doses of vaccine were administered across the UK and 449,716 second doses were administered.
A total of first doses of 35,188,981 and second doses of 17,214,436 are required.
The UK death toll within 28 days of a positive test now stands at 127,603 since the start of the pandemic.
There were also 1,152 people hospitalized with COVID, according to the latest figures available (May 6); 163 of them on fans.
He comes as cabinet minister defended the “cautious start” to the reopening of vacation travel after criticism from the travel industry.
Environment Secretary George Eustice acknowledged this was a “modest first step,” but told Sky News that the list of approved countries would be regularly reviewed.
Portugal, Gibraltar and Israel are part only 12 destinations on the green list from May 17 – the date on which the holiday ban is lifted – but some of the countries presented still do not accept tourists.
Spain, France, Italy and Greece will be on the orange list – destinations that people are not advised to travel to and from which they must isolate themselves at home for 10 days upon their return.
The industry has warned that the government’s approach could hamper the recovery of the travel sector, which has borne the economic brunt of the COVID-19[female[feminine pandemic.
