Daniel Jebbison: Sheffield United’s Paul Heckingbottom reveals what impressed him most about the story maker UK News

Jebbison became the youngest player to score in his first start to the competition since his inception in 1992 when he converted Jack Robinson’s cross in the opening stages at Goodison Park, with the visitors claiming a deserved victory on Merseyside.

Heckingbottom asked Jebbison to link David McGoldrick with the attack against Carlo Ancelotti’s side, after being impressed with his performance as a second-half substitute in United’s loss to Crystal Palace earlier this month -this.

After seeing Jebbison reward that faith by scoring the only goal in the contest, Heckingbottom told The Star, “The reason we picked Daniel is because we know he knows where the goal is. He knows he has to stand between these posts and, if he does, the rewards will come. And that’s what he does – he shows that energy and that desire to put himself in the right positions, which for me is great to see.

“He brings energy, hard work and a willingness to run behind and make it difficult for the center forwards, which is good and really encouraging. But the most impressive thing about Daniel, and indeed this performance he just played, is the fact that he ran out of his luck when it happened; Because, for the people in his place, there is nothing more important than doing this.

Still two months before his 18th birthday, Jebbison was only 197 days old when McGoldrick made the first professional appearance of his career in 1994.

“I told him the day before the match that he was going to participate,” continued Heckingbottom. “He handled it well. I thought about delaying the team nomination because I knew he was going to be a part of it, and we didn’t want to put too much on him.

“But I decided against it, I stuck with what we always do, and he’s been very mature, I thought because there would have been a lot of nerves on his part. He had a lot of time to think about what was going to happen.
