UK Weather: Rainy May Will Turn Hot And Dry For Bank Holiday Weekend – But June Doesn’t Look So Hot | UK News

Warmer and more stable conditions are finally expected to arrive in parts of the UK in time for the bank holiday weekend, at the end of a rain-dominated month.

More rain has already fallen in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland during May than one would normally expect for the entire month.

It’s a stark contrast to this time of last year when it was insanely hot weather saw the government forced to urge people to stay indoors up to the first COVID confinement.

Wales had its wettest May on record, with double the average rainfall for the month already recorded at the end of Saturday.

It experienced 184mm of rain, which is 214% of the monthly average.

The first weekend of much relaxed coronavirus restrictions in England were also wet and windy for many, with gusts north of 60 mph.

Fans returning to football stadiums for the first time this year over the past week have been greeted in poor conditions, while other sporting events, from horse racing in Windsor to cricket in Belfast, have had to be canceled.

There was even snow in the Lake District this month

However, forecasters say drier and warmer temperatures are on the way, with parts of the UK likely to benefit from a set holiday weekend.
