Talented Sheffield Wednesday youngster receives first international call-up – joins former Owl UK News

Ciaran Brennan, who made his debut on Wednesday last season and received a monumental career boost when the club triggered an extra year on his contract last week, will join the Republic of Ireland’s Under-21s for three games friendly in the coming weeks.

The youngsters travel to Marbella for matches against their counterparts from Switzerland, Australia and Denmark.

The highly regarded S6 defender Brennan has already played for the country of his birth at the Under-18 and Under-19 level.

Sheffield Wednesday youngster Ciaran Brennan received his first call in the Republic of Ireland’s Under-21 squad.

But this is his first call to the under-21 roster of Jim Crawford. He is one of the team’s seven uncapped players.

The youngster will see at least one familiar face, with his former Under-23 teammate Conor Grant also included.

Grant was the only involvement on Wednesday in the January transfer window, making what was a surprise stint at League One Rochdale.

The midfielder got off to a good start in life at Spotland, making 20 appearances and scoring a vital goal against relegation rival Swindon Town as his side failed to avoid the crash.

Brennan impressed in four first-team Cup games on Wednesday last year – starting all four – as Garry Monk, then Neil Thompson, looked to juggle a manic stack of matches and provide opportunities for one. group of junior Owls.

And with Darren Moore sending a message to young players at the club that they will have a chance in the preseason, the 20-year-old is hopeful that more opportunities arise.
