Woman with ‘crushed foot’ fumes at ‘shocking’ parking fine in Bath Bath City News

A woman who had suffered a “crushed foot” received a “shocking” parking ticket in Bath.

Annabelle Sanderson, 39, of Bradford-on-Avon, had her foot crushed in a parking lot days before her visit to town.

She wanted to go to Waitrose and was looking for a parking space nearby, as her injury prevented her from walking far.

Finding the podium full, she went to the cattle market instead. Annabelle said she then parked and paid at the meter for an hour’s stay.

She said, “I parked in a space that was quite close to the supermarket and I was in there for less than an hour. Then I came back and left.

“I must say my head fell a bit when I received the letter. We are just trying to go about our daily business and I already have to deal with the fact that my foot is crushed.

“I was really angry actually. It’s just another private parking company asking people for money.”

The car park is owned by Bath and North East Somerset Council and is managed by Gemini Parking Solutions.

In her letter from the company, Annabelle was told her stay was considered “unauthorized parking” even though she had returned within 40 minutes and paid for an hour.

The letter read: “Your vehicle was parked in violation of the conditions at the Hilton Bath on April 29 at 1:25 pm.

“We issued a PCN for the vehicle because it broke the following condition: Unauthorized parking.

“By parking on this private lot, you accept the terms and conditions clearly displayed on the signs on site.

“A reduced charge of £ 60 applies if this PCN is paid within 14 days. If you choose not to pay this amount, the full value of £ 100 will be due.”

Miss Sanderson contacted Gemini and Council regarding the fine.

She said: “I didn’t hear anything from the advice either, which is quite shocking and if I appeal I don’t get the discounted rate.”

Gemini Parking Solutions has been contacted for comment.
