Brighton defender Ben White has said winning his first England cap was a dream come true.

The 23-year-old defender replaced Jack Grealish in the 71st minute to become England’s 1,261 selected and only Albion’s fifth player to play for the Three Lions.

White helped England maintain their 1-0 lead over Austria in the 91st minute as he cleared Alessandro Schopf’s low shot at the line, after Jordan Pickford made a mess by kicking a ball .

But after making his debut, White took to Twitter to post a photo of himself in action for England with the accompanying message: “Something you dream about as a kid. I loved every minute of it. !! @England ”
