Marc Williams: police rake woods after body discovery Brighton News

Dozens of officers roam a wooded area after the body of a missing teenager is found.

Police investigating the disappearance of 18-year-old Marc Williams, who went missing in Uckfield on Sunday, said they found a body this afternoon.

Search teams located a body in the woods surrounding the Heron’s Ghyll area late last night.

Although the body was not formally identified at this early stage, it is believed to be Marc.

Relatives have been informed and an autopsy will be performed in due course.

A section of the A26 was closed as officers searched the area for evidence.

Photos taken at the scene showed dozens of officers searching through tall grass, as police taped a section of trees.

A 19-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder in Eastbourne on Tuesday June 1.

He is currently in detention for questioning.

Chief Detective Inspector Emma Vickers said: “This is an absolutely devastating discovery and our hearts go out to Marc’s family at this difficult time. His family is supported by specially trained officers and we ask for their privacy. is respected.

“This investigation is a dynamic and rapid investigation and our officers are working tirelessly to establish the circumstances of this incident. I am extremely grateful to our respective police teams for their unwavering commitment to finding Marc.

“We thank the public for their patience and understanding as we continue to carry out our work in the region and urge people to support us by avoiding engaging in speculation online while we investigate.
