Another person has died after contracting coronavirus in Somerset in the past 24 hours, the latest figures show.
It comes after no deaths from Covid were recorded in the UK yesterday (Tuesday) for the first time since July last year.
Government figures show 12 more deaths have been confirmed across the country today (June 2).
Somerset’s death has been confirmed at Sedgemoor, bringing the death toll in that region to 161.
A handful of coronavirus infections were also recorded in the county on Wednesday, with 12 new cases of Covid-19 confirmed.
The majority were recorded in Bath and northeast Somerset, with six new positive test results today.

There were also three in Somerset West and Taunton, two in North Somerset and one in Mendip.
The new cases in Somerset are part of a total of 4,330 registered across the UK in the past 24 hours, up from 3,165 yesterday.
This brings the total number of cases nationwide to 4,494,699 since the first stroke of the pandemic.

There have been 12 deaths recorded in the UK today.
More than 127,000 people have died across the UK since the start of the pandemic, but the daily number of deaths has been falling since the second peak on January 19.
According to the latest figures, 123 people have also been admitted to hospital in the UK, with the total number of inpatients now standing at 923. There are 136 patients in mechanical ventilation beds, up from 120 registered yesterday.
The number of people who received their first dose of the vaccine exceeded 39.5 million, with a total of 65,658,949 vaccinations administered.
Over 26 million people also received their second jab.
