Rapper Nines has been charged with four drug-related offenses.

The 31-year-old musician, real name Courtney Freckleton, was arrested on Thursday alongside Jason Thompson, 35.

The two men were charged with conspiracy to import class B drugs with intent to circumvent a restriction between March 10 and July 3, conspiracy to supply cocaine, conspiracy to supply cannabis and conspiracy to conceal and remove criminal property.

The couple were arrested after warrants were issued for addresses in London and Borehamwood and were due to appear in Willesden Magistrates’ Court on Friday.

Nines, from Harlesden in North West London, has been one of the favorites for the past year MOBO price with five nominations.

He topped the charts last year with his third studio album Crabs In A Bucket and was up for awards such as Best Male Actor, Best Hip Hop Actor, and Album of the Year.

At the first ceremony since 2017, Nines received the award for album of the year and best hip hop number.

He won the best album ahead of J Hus, Stormzy, Mahalia and Lianne La Havas.

And he beat J Hus, Mrs Banks, D-Block Europe, Krept & Konan and Potter Payper to take home the award for Best Hip Hop Group.

The rapper rose to fame with his 2017 debut album, One Foot Out, which reached the top four of the charts.

His songs have accumulated millions of listenings on streaming platforms and he has collaborated with Dave, Ray BLK and SL.
