Two drug traffickers have been arrested with £ 500,000 worth of cocaine after a 100mph police chase through a restaurant parking lot.

Officers of West Midlands Police could be heard sighing “really” as the drug-laden vehicle used a hard shoulder to initiate a patrol car on the M6 ​​near junction seven.

Simon Pagett, 39, and Dean Stone, 40, were sentenced to seven and six years respectively for their crimes.

Pagett, from Walsall, was driving the BMW i8 while Stone, also from Walsall, was a passenger.

Reaching speeds of up to 100 mph, entering and exiting cars and driving through red lights towards Walsall, the driver even took a detour through a Toby Carvery parking lot to try to get away from the police.

At one point in the chase, which took place on November 5 last year, Stone jumped out of the vehicle with a backpack containing 5 kg of “high purity” cocaine.

Pagett pulled over after about five minutes, even using his indicators to signal his intention, while Stone was caught trying to get into a cab, having thrown the bag into a bush.

The couple admitted to possessing cocaine with the intention of providing it, while Pagett also pleaded guilty to dangerous driving.

Detective Constable Mandy Dorrington said: “Pagett and Stone clearly believed they were above the law and far too important to waste time in a queue – but unfortunately for them they took the one of our patrol cars.

Pagett tried to ignore the forward police driver, but after a few minutes he realized it was an unsuccessful task and gave up.

“He was driving a BMW i8 worth over £ 100,000. In an interview he claimed that the car and his way of life were funded by his dog…
