Emergency services rushed to the edge of a cliff in Cornwall in the early hours of this morning after reporting a vehicle had fallen through.
The Mullion Coast Guard Rescue Team and the Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service witnessed the incident at Cadgwith alongside police.
Photos posted on social media by the Coast Guard team show a vehicle on its side suspended from the edge of the cliff, Cornwall Live reports.
Firefighters used equipment to secure the vehicle and a person was subsequently rescued from the trunk of the car.
The victim managed to escape without being injured.
A statement from the fire team reads: “Crews from Mullion and the Tolvaddon line rescue devices witnessed this incident as well as an officer, which involved a single vehicle in a precarious position, HM Coastguard and Devon & Cornwall Police also attended.
“Firefighters used line rescue equipment to secure and stabilize the vehicle, one victim was successfully recovered unharmed.”
The Mullion Coast Guard also posted a story about the incident on Facebook, writing: “The team called at 4:38 a.m. to provide security coverage at the Mullion Community Fire Station with a vehicle that had climbed over the cliff. at Cadgwith.
“Cornwall Fire and Rescue Services were able to secure the vehicle with a strop and retrieved the victim through the trunk.
“Once the scene was secured, we were removed from office. “
